In September 2025, VMX Visual successfully delivered a high-profile mobile advertising project in Pennsylvania, USA. This installation features six massive, high-refresh-rate outdoor LED displays integrated onto a customized digital billboard truck fleet. Engineered to withstand the relentless vibrations of highway travel and volatile East Coast weather, this mobile solution delivers uncompromised visual brilliance on the move.

01 Project Overview: Mobile Digital Billboards in Pennsylvania

The client required a highly reliable, high-density outdoor LED solution to mount onto multi-sided advertising trucks. Operating across Pennsylvania's urban centers and highways, these displays demand strict weight limits, low power consumption, and extreme physical durability. VMX Visual deployed its premium VN-390 (P3.9mm) outdoor series, configuring 6 independent large screens. Each individual display measures 3 meters in width by 2 meters in height, accumulating a total active display area of 36 square meters. This project serves as a premier standard for modern out-of-home (OOH) transit advertising.

02 Technical Specifications: VMX VN-390 Premium Series

The VN-390 was selected specifically for its balance between ultra-fine pixel pitch and robust outdoor protection capabilities. Below is the verified engineering data for the Pennsylvania fleet installation:

Parameter Specification / Project Data

Control System & Processing NovaStar Control System with A5S Plus Receiving Cards
IP Rating (Ingress Protection) Front IP65 / Rear IP54 (All-Weather Waterproof)
Completion & Warranty Completed: September 2025 | 2-Year Comprehensive Warranty
03 Engineering Highlights: Built for the Road

Designing a vehicular LED system introduces strict environments that standard fixed billboards never encounter:

  • Anti-Vibration Engineering: Road vibrations can easily loosen traditional wiring and cause solder fatigue. The VN-390 features a structural 100% die-cast aluminum framework alongside heavily reinforced internal ribbon cables and lock-in power connectors, preventing signal dropouts while driving.
  • 7,680Hz True Broadcast Quality: Since mobile ad trucks are prime targets for social media filming and smartphone shares, having zero scan lines is critical. Powered by NovaStar A5S Plus processing, the 7680Hz refresh rate delivers fluid, camera-friendly imagery even when captured at high frame rates.
  • Weight Optimization: At just 8kg per 500x500mm panel, VMX minimized the center of gravity of the vehicles, improving truck fuel efficiency and complying strictly with US vehicular highway safety regulations.
B2B Client Review

"The VN-390 transformed our transit advertising business. Even on bumpy roads and rainy days in Pennsylvania, the screens perform perfectly. The 7,680Hz refresh rate means our clients' video ads look flawless on every smartphone recording shared on social media." — Operations Director, US OOH Media Agency.

Project Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is the 7680Hz refresh rate critical for mobile LED truck displays?

Mobile LED screens are constantly filmed by smartphones and professional cameras during public events or on the road. A standard 3840Hz refresh rate can still show scanning lines under high-speed camera shutter settings. The VN-390's ultra-high 7680Hz refresh rate eliminates all flickering, moiré patterns, and scanning lines, ensuring ghost-free, crystal-clear playback on both live camera feeds and social media recordings.

Q: How does the die-cast aluminum cabinet benefit vehicle-mounted installations?

Vehicles endure continuous vibration, bumps, and aerodynamic stress on the road. Standard sheet metal or iron cabinets are heavy and prone to structural fatigue. The VN-390 utilizes premium die-cast aluminum, weighing only 8kg per cabinet with a slim 73.5mm profile. This drastically reduces the truck's payload, while the high-tensile precision interlocking mechanism ensures the mechanical structure remains perfectly aligned and rigid despite relentless road vibrations.

Q: Is 3500 nits brightness sufficient for outdoor daytime use in Pennsylvania?

Yes. For a mobile truck display, 3500 nits is the optimal sweet spot. It delivers high-contrast visibility under direct East Coast sunlight without blinding pedestrians or oncoming traffic. Combined with a 4000:1 high contrast ratio and 16-bit grayscale, the VN-390 maintains excellent color depth and readable content from early morning sunrise to late afternoon dusk.

Standards & Compliance

  1. NovaStar Tech — A5S Plus control system specifications and industrial vehicular signal filtering guidelines.
  2. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) — US outdoor mobile billboard brightness regulations and transportation safety compliance criteria.
