Outdoor Advertising Belgium Venus-Lite VL-390 Mobile Installation

A Belgium-based outdoor advertising company required a high-brightness mobile LED display solution for street-level brand activation campaigns across urban areas. The display needed to operate in full daylight, withstand Belgium's variable weather conditions, and mount securely on a trailer unit for city-to-city deployment.

01 Technical Solution

VMX Visual supplied 14 units of the Venus-Lite VL-390 panel, configured as a single seamless display surface on a custom trailer mount. The die-cast aluminum cabinets were selected for their lightweight construction and IP65 front and rear weather rating, ensuring reliable operation in Belgium's outdoor conditions year-round.

The P3.9 pixel pitch delivers sharp image quality at typical street-level viewing distances of 4 metres and beyond. At 4,000 nits maximum brightness, content remains fully visible in direct daylight without washout. The 140° horizontal viewing angle maximises audience reach on both sides of the street during urban activations.

The trailer-mounted configuration allows the advertising company to redeploy the display across multiple campaign locations without permanent installation costs — a key requirement for mobile outdoor advertising operations.

03 Project Results
  • Full daylight visibility — 4,000 nits brightness maintains clear content display in direct sunlight across Belgian summer conditions.
  • Year-round weather protection — IP65 front and rear rating ensures reliable operation through rain, dust, and temperature variation without performance degradation.
  • Mobile flexibility — Trailer-mounted configuration enables rapid redeployment across multiple campaign locations, eliminating permanent installation costs per site.
  • Fast delivery — EU warehouse stock in Belgium enabled short lead time from order to on-site installation.

04 Challenges & Solutions

Every mobile LED installation presents unique technical and logistical challenges. Below is a full account of the issues encountered during this project and how each was resolved.

01 — On-site calibration showed uneven brightness across panels after initial power-up

Resolution

Brightness variation between panels is a standard outcome when cabinets are powered up without pre-calibration. VMX Visual's technical team provided remote support via NovaStar calibration software, walking the client through panel-by-panel brightness and colour uniformity adjustment. Full calibration was completed within two hours of initial setup. A calibration guide specific to the VL-390 configuration was provided for future reference.

02 — Client requested a non-standard display aspect ratio to match the trailer frame dimensions

Resolution

The client's trailer frame required a 7×2 cabinet layout rather than a standard configuration. VMX Visual's pre-sales team recalculated the display resolution, controller mapping, and mounting bracket spacing to match the exact frame dimensions. A revised layout drawing was submitted for client approval before production, eliminating any on-site fit issues at delivery.

03 — Visible seam lines between cabinets under certain lighting angles after installation

Resolution

Seam visibility under raking light is caused by cabinet flatness tolerance and mounting surface irregularity, not the panels themselves. The client was guided through the VL-390's adjustment mechanism to align all cabinet faces to within 0.5mm tolerance. VMX Visual also advised on mounting surface preparation to prevent the trailer frame flex from introducing misalignment during transport between locations.

04 — Cabinet surface temperature exceeded expected range during extended summer operation

Resolution

The trailer installation restricted rear airflow compared to a standard freestanding structure. VMX Visual's technical team advised reducing maximum brightness from 4,000 nits to 3,200 nits during peak summer afternoon hours, bringing operating temperature back within the rated range without any perceptible impact on daytime visibility. A thermal monitoring schedule was also provided for the client's maintenance team.

05 — Water ingress detected at power box entry point following heavy rainfall

Resolution

Inspection confirmed that the power cable entry gland had not been fully tightened during installation, creating a gap that bypassed the IP65 seal. VMX Visual shipped a replacement gland seal from the Belgium warehouse within 24 hours. The client was provided with a weatherproofing checklist covering all cable entry points and drainage holes, to be completed after every trailer relocation.

06 — Client's operations team had no prior experience with LED display control systems

Resolution

VMX Visual conducted a two-session remote training programme covering daily startup and shutdown procedures, content upload via the NovaStar control system, brightness scheduling for day and night operation, and basic fault identification. A simplified quick-reference operation guide was prepared in both English and Dutch and supplied alongside the system documentation.

07 — Two mounting brackets arrived with thread damage, preventing secure installation

Resolution

Replacement brackets were dispatched from VMX Visual's Belgium warehouse the same day the issue was reported, arriving on site the following morning. Installation proceeded without further delay. VMX Visual updated its pre-shipment hardware inspection checklist to include thread integrity verification on all mounting components as a standard QC step.

08 — Display content appeared colour-shifted when viewed from wide angles during street activation

Resolution

Colour shift at wide viewing angles is a characteristic of SMD LED technology beyond approximately 120° horizontal. The VL-390's 140° rated viewing angle covers most practical street-level viewing positions. VMX Visual advised the client on optimal trailer positioning relative to pedestrian flow to ensure the primary audience remained within the optimal 100° central viewing cone, maximising colour accuracy for the largest portion of the audience.

09 — Client requested post-installation brightness recalibration after three months of operation

Resolution

Minor brightness variation between panels after extended operation is normal as individual LEDs age at slightly different rates. VMX Visual's technical team conducted a remote recalibration session via NovaStar software, restoring full uniformity across all 14 panels. A recommended recalibration schedule of every six months was provided for ongoing maintenance.

10 — One module developed a dead pixel cluster after six weeks of continuous operation

Resolution

A replacement module was dispatched from the Belgium warehouse within 24 hours of the fault report. The VL-390's front-access module design allowed the client's technician to replace the module on site in under 15 minutes without removing the cabinet from the trailer mount. The faulty module was returned to VMX Visual for root cause analysis as part of the standard warranty process.
